STORIES FROM THE BOOKWORM

Armed with a great imagination and a dramatic flair, Leona Hoegsberg has told stories to kids for more than 20 years. Leona tells stories from all over the world. She includes folktales, fairytales, myths, and poetry in her repertoire, along with great children’s literature.
Many of her stories involve audience participation and all are infused with dramatic movement, voices and sometimes props, to make the stories come alive.
Because of her extensive experience in children’s literature, Leona connects the stories with the books from which they come and encourages children to look into books and tell their own stories. And her experience working with children of all ages as a teacher and librarian helps her design a storytelling program appropriate for the age and interest of each group.
Leona also has much experience telling stories in Sunday School and church settings and does enjoy telling Biblical and Christian stories for Christian schools and churches, using the same dramatic touches.
