U.S. Storytelling Postage Stamp Update.
Posted: 2002-05-27 By Sean Buvala

From a press release we received:

STORYTELLING STAMP: UPDATE
The following is an excerpt from a letter sent by Terrence W. McCaffrey,
Manager, Stamp Development, United States Postal Service. It is very
encouraging!!! We thank everyone who has been soooo very supportive in the
quest for a storytelling stamp. We will keep you updated!!!

Yours in Storytelling, Gwendolyn Jones and Carol Satz

Excerpt from letter sent by Terrance W. McCaffrey:

"You will be pleased to know that Storytelling is currently under
consideration by the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee as a future stamp
issuance. The Committee is responsible for reviewing stamp proposals and
making subject and design recommendations to the Postmaster General.

As information, the Committee decides on new stamps subject recommendations
far in advance of the issue date in order to provide time for planning,
design, production, and distribution. Currently, the 2003 and 2004 stamp
programs are completed, and stamp subjects for the 2005 program and
subsequent years are being selected. Although many of the subjects for
upcoming new stamps have been identified, no public announcement of
individual new stamps is made until the entire stamp program for that year
has been approved. This occurs in the fall preceding the year of issuance.

Your interest in our stamp program is very much appreciated."

So, dear Storytellers and Story Listeners, continue to keep your fingers and
your toes crossed!!!

If you haven’t sent an email letter as of yet, please do so as soon as
possible. As the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee does not accept email, we
request that you send your email letter to englearnr@aol.com, and we will
again "bulk snail mail" all the email letters we receive to Washington, DC on
July 1. (Email to: englearnr@aol.com)

You can also snail mail directly to the committee, but please send us a COPY
of your letter for our files.

The committee’s address is:

The Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee
Terrence W. McCaffrey, Manager
Stamp Development
475 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W.
Washington, DC 20260-2435

The address to send a COPY of your snail mail letter is:
Carol Satz
P.O. Box 6590
Lawrenceville, NJ 08648

Thanks for everything…
Yours in Storytelling,
Gwendolyn Jones and Carol Satz
