Book Review: 40 Fun Fables
By: Staff at Storyteller.net

40 Fun Fables, by Martha Hamilton and Mitch Weiss, is a standard collection of Aesop tales. The authors have taken these traditional stories and made them more understandable to the child of grade-school age. You can find a variety of books like this.

However, where this book truly shines is in its uses for the classroom teacher. The second half of the book, dedicated to using these tales in the "Common Core" education standards is excellent. We think this detailed cross-referencing will be invaluable to the teacher who needs to support great lesson plans using oral storytelling for theater and language arts. As well, short classroom activities are included that round out the usefulness of this volume.

While in our opinion this might not be a book you pick up for bedtime stories, if you are doing any type of education of children from the formal classrooms to homeschooling, you’ll be able to make use of this book. This is a work-horse book, one that will be a tool for your work with children.
