September 8 – Story Biz: Establishing the Biz
Learn the importance of establishing an identity and creating a trade name. The various types of businesses (sole proprietorship, corporations, LLCs) are discussed and Dianne will guide participants in understanding business plans. Office management including income tracking and taxes will be tackled.

September 15 – Story Biz: Managing Your Bookings
Learn how two sentences can open up doors and lead to bookings. The ever elusive “How Do I Decide What to Charge?” is demystified. Negotiating and collecting fees, as well as contracts and agreements will be discussed in detail.

September 22 – Story Biz: Powerful Printed Promo
When marketing themselves, storytellers are not only competing with other storytellers, they are also competing with mimes, musicians, dancers, clowns, puppeteers, and other forms of entertainment. Creating printed promo that puts tellers in league with the “big players” is a necessity. Dianne breaks down printing process in simple terms and discusses how brochures, postcards, and press kits can enhance a storyteller’s business.

September 29 – Story Biz: The Three Most Powerful Marketing Tools
Getting the word out to the largest possible audience is the key in marketing. Dianne shares her insights on the three most powerful marketing tools: the business card, the website, and the email newsletter.
